Tony Murray

Tony Murray is William Murray’s son. His earliest memories as a primary teacher were of William Murray’s Key Word research and of course Peter and Jane. He was a primary teacher, special school teacher and Primary head teacher. He then became a school inspector and for his entire career his father’s research, philosophy and work inspired him.

My father, William Murray conducted his own research knowing that thoughtful, efficient and structured teaching is needed when children are learning to read. He researched the English language concentrating on the most used words.
